My name is Pierre-Alexandre Huguenin. I was born in 1992 in Annemasse, France. I’m a Swiss-French portrait photographer based in Geneva, Switzerland. Since I was a teenager, photography has always been one of my passions, along with hiking and running. When I started playing with my first camera, photography was an excellent way for me to depict the beauty of the landscapes I’d see during my outings in the lovely mountains of Switzerland and Haute-Savoie, France. I was so keen on nature photography at the time that I would shoot all the treasures of Mother Earth. I took pictures of rocks, flowers, trees, waterfalls, lakes, and so on! However, I had never thought, in the beginning, that I would take pictures of people.
From Nature to People
As my passion for photography grew over time, I felt the need to expand my horizons and push my boundaries. I thought that by taking images of other facets of life, I would not only improve my understanding of photography but also change my perspective on our planet. Like brushes for painters, a camera is a lovely tool to create deep relationships with our world and the individuals who inhabit it. It’s not about how one represents reality, but how one engages with it to tell stories. That’s why I started doing street photography afterwards.
Being a shy person by nature, street photography materialised a massive challenge for me. Indeed, I had to overcome my timidity to shoot scenes of our daily urban lives. The climax of that exercise was to ask strangers to have their pictures taken. It was the hardest part for me, as I had a little bit of a fear of rejection. But I don’t regret it one bit! The more I shot, the more I felt confident. The stories people told me during my street photography sessions was the fuel that pushed me to wander around the streets and shoot more.
Going the Extra Mile in Portrait Photography
That experience in the streets made me realise that the relationship the photographer builds with the subject is the key component when it comes to shooting people. And that’s how I decided to pursue my journey and to embrace the universe of portrait photography.
Each of my clients becomes my centre of attention. The relationship I develop with my clients is the fundamental ingredient of the recipe to a successful shoot. Whether you’re shy or extrovert, terrified or thrilled by the camera, you’re all welcome. There’s no such a thing as being “photogenic”. Anybody can look confident in front of the camera as long as there’s a strong and meaningful connection based on trust between the model and the photographer. Together, hand in hand, we’ll make sure that you get the pictures you need. A portrait that displays confidence will not only make you look good and boost your self-esteem but also give you stronger chances, for instance, to be noticed by headhunters or casting directors.
If you wish to book a session, feel free to contact me. I’ll be happy to answer your questions via email or over the phone. I’ll ensure that you have all the information you need to get ready and have a fantastic experience during the shoot.
Thank you very much for visiting my portfolio.
I’m looking forward to meeting you and listening to your story!
Have a lovely day,
